The Thailand government has introduced a major visa policy update to tighten security and curb illegal immigration. Under the new rules approved by the Thai Cabinet on May 19, 2026, the previously popular 60-day visa-free entry privilege (Visa Exemption) for 93 nations, including India, has been completely revoked. Moving to a stricter "One Country, One Visa Privilege" framework, Indian tourists must now revert to obtaining a **Visa on Arrival (VoA)** at the airport, which incurs a cash fee of 2,000 THB (approximately ₹5,000) and grants a maximum stay of only **15 days** with no option for extension. Additionally, it is now mandatory for all foreign travelers to complete the online **Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)** via tdac.immigration.go.th at least 72 hours before departure to obtain a required QR code. Due to heightened immigration screening at checkpoints, travelers must carry printed proofs of a passport valid for at least 6 months, a confirmed return ticket within 15 days, complete hotel bookings, and proof of funds equivalent to at least 10,000 THB (about ₹25,000) per person in cash or bank statements; for stays exceeding 15 days, applying for a standard **Tourist e-Visa** online prior to departure remains highly recommended.
